about

A song reflecting on the Good, the "Bad" and the Ugly of a toxic relationship. This is an empowering folk noir tune inspired by the theme of gaslighting - a term that originally derives from the 1944 film "Gaslight".

"Bad" is also the title track of my upcoming second EP featuring Adam Green on guitar and Maddy Hamilton on cello.

As Margaret Atwood wisely pointed out,
“a word after a word after a word is power."

lyrics

Bad

I got away from you

Baby, I got away for good

All the lies you fed me with

filled me dark with doubt

They’ll eat you up alive before I’m out

I got away from you

Oh I got away for good
And you cannot hurt me now

Can’t trick me into thinking what we had was real somehow

I know what you are

You’re a bad bad man

Just a broken man

What a sad, lonesome man

Is there no saving you... my dear?

I got away from you

Hey, I got away for good

Stab the silly words you spilled

sweet song inside my head

rolling around, messed with my love and fled

I know what you are

You’re a bad bad man

Just a broken man

What a sad, lonesome man

Is there no saving you... my dear?

I got away from you

Boy, I got away for good

Cheap moments wasted gazing in your eyes

Fooled by my longing, crushed, in savage highs
 ...

I’ll burn it all

‘cause you’re a bad bad man

Just a broken man

What a sad, lonesome man

Is there no saving you... my dear?

I know what you are
You are not some God
You can't keep me in the dark

So come n’ hear me sing

High above the trees

In this white noise I’ll breath

It’s the thought of you I’ll miss

I will resist

'cause you’re a bad bad man

Just a broken man

What a sad, lonesome man

And there’s no saving you....I fear...
